Poland is changing its recruitment direction - time for workers from Central Asia

In recent months, we have observed significant changes in the Polish labour market. More and more Ukrainian nationals are choosing to move to Germany, resulting in vacancies in sectors such as construction, logistics or manufacturing. In response to these shortages, employers are increasingly turning to workers from Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Kazakhstan.

Why are Ukrainians leaving Poland?
According to Eurostat, there were more than 1.1 million Ukrainians in Germany by the end of 2024, compared to less than 987,000 in Poland. The main reasons for migration are higher wages, better social benefits and the presence of family and friends in Germany.
Asian workers as a new workforce
Faced with an exodus of Ukrainian workers, Polish employers are turning to the countries of Central Asia. Workers from this region are valued for their industriousness and willingness to take on a variety of tasks. Many of them choose to work in Poland because even the minimum wage allows them to support their families in their homeland for a few months.
Challenges of hiring Asian workers
The process of recruiting workers from Central Asian countries involves certain difficulties. First of all, visa procedures are more complicated and time-consuming compared to those for Ukrainian citizens. The waiting time for a visa can be as long as 9-10 months, due to the limited number of available appointments at consulates.
